Advancing team coaching
by making it affordable and accessible for mission-driven nonprofits

Bringing team coaching to nonprofits
Nonprofit teams naturally face disruptions like strategic shifts, leadership changes, burnout, and external pressures.
Left unaddressed, these can get in the way of serving the mission.
The goal of the Agate Initiative is to strengthen the nonprofit sector by piloting team coaching and to build interest and awareness by sharing our findings.
What can team leaders do when the team is not… teaming?
When there’s disconnection on a team, there’s also an opportunity
for the team — and the organization.
Agate Initiative exists to strengthen the nonprofit sector by expanding access to high-quality professional development, particularly systemic team coaching.
We operate as a fiscally sponsored project of Social Good Fund, a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Beyond working directly with teams, we share educational materials, research findings, and practical tools to promote and support team coaching, so that the benefits of team coaching extend to the broader nonprofit community.
We hope you’ll subscribe to our newsletter, check out our Research page, and explore what’s possible!
how agate initiative promotes team coaching
“She approached our project with patience, guidance, and wisdom that I greatly appreciated, taking time to check in with the team and helping us set a clear direction for the future. The team is super happy and we’re making steady progress toward our goals.”

Our Focus in 2026:
team transformation intensives
Our cohort-based Team Transformation Intensives offer nonprofit teams the chance to engage in meaningful, structured team coaching alongside peers navigating similar challenges.
Learn about our cohort-based intensives:
“We were a high performing team prior to the engagement—but we wanted to prepare our team for the onboarding of several new [team members]. Seeing our blind spots and how to leverage our strengths to set goals was really helpful. It was also great to hone in on the strengths of the group so we can lean on each other when necessary.”
